My Dog is Soooo Smart

September 23, 2007 at 10:50 am (Family, General)

We are doggy sitting for ‘Molly the Dog’ while my parents are cruising through Istanbul and the Greek Islands for 2+ weeks (rough life), and I’ve been sick for the past couple of days. Of course while I’m sick, Ellie stays by my side constantly and snuggles with me. Ellie and I were in bed the other day with the bedroom door slightly cracked open. Molly had been downstairs by herself, but I guess she got lonely, because she came up to the bedroom door and layed down just outside of it. Molly doesn’t realize that she can come in the room just by pushing the door open, so she started to whine a little bit because she wanted to come in. Before I had the chance to hop out of bed…Ellie heard Molly’s whining, hopped down from the bed, ran to the bedroom door, nosied it open, and let Molly in. When Molly came in, Ellie gave her a kiss on the nose, as if to welcome her in the room, and Molly gave her a kiss back as if to say ‘thanks’.  I love my pooch.

I’ve been digging up baby pics of David and I (with help from my parents and Ginger), and wanted to share some of the best ones. We were some damn cute kids!

By the way, if you have old pictures that you want to scan to have electronically, Mike’s camera will scan up to 100 pics and put them on a CD for only $30. Pretty good deal!

Ginger – what an amazing gift you sent! You couldn’t possibly have known that I am a total map/globe dork and I LOVE that kind of stuff! We now have a world map to follow our travels and our dream vacations! Not only that, but it is labeled as ‘World Travels of Jil and David Cohen’… ahh, I’m gonna be aCohen!

Thank you Ginger! We’ve already marked some of our ‘favorites’ and some of our ‘wishlists’. I can’t wait to add more pins to the map, and we’ll think of you every time we do it!!!

Kauai Anyone?

September 12, 2007 at 9:38 pm (Travels)

We are going to kauai in February and I’d love any suggestions on what part of the island or where to stay for that time of year. I’ve heard that the North Shore is the best, but then I’ve also read that the winter months are super windy on the North Shore. So please, comment on what you know about Kauai. I want to book this trip by the end of next week, thanks!!!!

Emily Griffin

September 12, 2007 at 9:28 pm (General)

I know I don’t always read the most intellectual books, but I swear – Chick-Lit can sometimes be really good! I have to recommend a couple of books by Emily Griffin. I LOVED the first two books that I read of hers, ‘Something Borrowed’ and ‘Something Blue’ (obviously, they go together). So, yeah, my stage in life is definitely a reason for why these books appeal to me 🙂 They were both the ‘I can’t put it down, read until 2am’ kinda books for me (which doesn’t happen very often for me). Ask David – he was very surprised to see me carrying around a book, waiting for the chance to read it. So they are my two favorite Chick-Lits right now, let me know if you want to borrow them – you gotta read them together…. http://www.amazon.com/Something-Borrowed-Emily-Giffin/dp/0312321198/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-1241379-6412937?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1189657219&sr=8-1

My Girls

September 12, 2007 at 9:14 pm (General)

I have to say that I have been blessed with some amazing girlfriends. I also have to say that some of my single girlfriends get the shaft because they have to go through all of the celebration processes of us getting-married-girls. These loyal girlfriends are there to help celebrate new boyfriends, engagements, bachelorette parties, wedding showers, weddings, and eventually – baby showers,  babies, etc. Where is the celebration for their happiness? Just because they don’t have (or need/want) a man doesn’t mean their life isn’t worthy of a good happy hour, right? I’m making it a goal to celebrate my single girlfriends too! Right back atcha sisters! Let’s have a celebration for the sake of a new dog, awesome hike  you thought you couldn’t do, promotion, new home, or any great accomplishment that doesn’t have to involve a man! I’m there!

Invitations

September 12, 2007 at 9:02 pm (Wedding)

Who’d of thunk that invitations were such a big deal? Honestly, I think the invitation part of the wedding has been the most stressful part yet. So, for those of you getting one, please notice the pearlized stock, the sparkley-silver font that is higher than the paper (not sure of the word for that) and the custom postage. I didn’t know all of this @!$& existed and how much it matters in the world of weddings, but I do agree that it will be very pretty! I do think that the custom postage is pretty cool though, check it out http://www.pictureitpostage.com/

So, keep posted, invitations will hopefully go out next week. Given that I have time to sit at home and watch Oprah and stuff invitaitons all day — Oh right, I do have time!
